FAQ

Microneedling is an aesthetic treatment which uses small needles to cause tiny punctures in the skin, triggering a wound healing response. This repair and remodelling of the skin encourages the natural production of collagen and elastin, hence improving the appearance, texture and firmness of the skin. The micro-injuries also create channels that allow products to penetrate deeper into the skin, giving a more radiant and plumping effect, hence why we offer Mesotherapy as an additional treatment during the procedure.

Mesotherapy is an amazingly versatile treatment that enables a bespoke combination of powerful vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, amino acids and hyaluronic acid to be injected into the middle layer of the skin (mesoderm). The specific blend of nutrients, carefully tailored by our doctor to each client, combined with cutting-edge micro-needling technology, can help to induce the production of collagen and elastin, leaving you with a firmer, more toned and vibrant complexion.

Microneedling and Mesotherapy are both highly-skilled medical procedures which are commonly used to target pigmentation, due to ageing or sun damage. They are also very effective for skin suffering from acne, scarring and stretch marks.

Microneedling is the umbrella term for a variety of different procedures that are designed to reduce the appearance of skin damage, as well as minimising large pores. At DermaGlitz, we use Dermapen, currently the world’s most advanced skin-needling technology, in comparison to other skin rejuvenation procedures. After undertaking a detailed medical and aesthetic consultation, our highly-trained doctor can fully assess your areas of concern and expectations, to devise a treatment plan.

Due to its amazing patented technology, the Dermapen does not require skin numbing prior to treatments, unlike other Meso-Needling pens. There is minimal/no pain associated with the Dermapen, as the needles are not angled and enter the skin at a perfect 90-degree angle, and so our physician can ensure you are completely relaxed and comfortable during the procedure. The invigorating injection of vitamins, via Mesotherapy, does not cause any discomfort as it is incorporated into the Dermapen treatment.

Microneedling and Mesotherapy can be performed safely and repeatedly as the epidermis stays intact throughout the treatments. The procedures are safe and effective on all skin types and all ages, however are not safe for people who use certain medications or for pregnant women.

The most common side effect is minor skin irritation or redness immediately following your treatment. This can last from 2-24 hours, and will inevitably depend on your skin type and sensitivity. The redness usually resolves by day 2, however you may experience some light flaking or peeling on day 3, depending on the intensity of the treatment. By day 4, your skin will be totally healed and will look brighter and rejuvenated, boosting your inner confidence. This amazing treatment has virtually no downtime.

Clients notice a change in the quality of their skin within a few days to a week. It can take a few treatments and up to 3 months to see significant changes. Mesotherapy enables the results to be accelerated with the infusion of vitamins, minerals and growth factors, which your medical practitioner is happy to discuss during your consultation.

Optimal results from Microneedling and Mesotherapy are seen after a course of treatments, which depends on the area and skin condition being treated. Most skin problems can be effectively treated with three to four consecutive treatments at least four to six weeks apart, however more severe skin conditions may require five or six treatments. We then recommended maintenance sessions on a 6-12 monthly basis, to maximise the benefits achieved.

Suitability for these treatments will be assessed during your consultation. DermaGlitz cannot treat those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
